BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) — A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official on Friday called on China's press circles to hold fast to their original aspiration and mission and record the new era and eulogize the new endeavours.

Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at the award ceremony of this year's China News Award, the country's top journalism award, in Beijing.

Huang urged the press circles to vigorously publicize the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Journalists should follow the correct political direction, maintain the right tone in public communication, hold fast to their original aspiration and mission, and record the new era and sing the praises of the new endeavours with great energy and passion, Huang said.

Praising their work over the past 70 years, Huang called on Chinese journalists to carry forward the fine traditions and tell well China's stories.

He also encouraged integrated development to strengthen the penetration, guidance, influence and credibility of the media.

Friday also marked China's 20th Journalists' Day.
